“I started at Crossfit D10 in the summer of 2018 when I moved to Cape Breton for the Nursing Program at CBU. At first, I was hesitant about reaching out to someone to have a “no sweat intro”, in which I soon came to realize I had no reason to be. Keely was so welcoming and took the time to talk to me to understand what it was I wanted to achieve by joining the gym.

As a competitive athlete my whole life, I explained to her that I wanted that sense of athleticism back in my life after recently finishing up my last years of playing sports. Crossfit D10 provided me with so much more than what I had expected. Along with the wonderful (but tough) workouts, I was able to create lifelong friendships. People always use to say to me “I don’t know how you can work so much while being in school”, but what they didn’t understand was that going to the gym was more than working out- it was a place to escape from the stresses of life, a time to hangout and laugh with friends, and a place where no one was ever judged. The coaches at D10 ensured everyone felt comfortable by adjusting workouts based on individual skill levels and physical backgrounds. I have come to learn that I was mistaken for ever feeling hesitant about joining this gym, it has been the best part of my two years in Cape Breton.”
